El Patio de los Perfumes Overview

El Patio de los Perfumes is in Marbella Old Town, apparantly the house was built over 200 years ago and housed a wealthy local family. The restaurant entrance is a very trendy little bar area where you can have a pre-dinner aperitif. In the main dining area, the decoration is quite unique in that it is adorned with various artefacts from the past but the overall effect is a fulfilling warmth about the place perfect for winter dining in Spain.
Starters were great; we had a selection of them all; the ones I would recommend are the warm goat’s cheese in pastry, the beef carpaccio and the foie gras with caramelised apple. The dining area inside the restaurant becomes a lounge area in the summer and the large French doors open out onto this beautiful courtyard that is lit only by candles.
However, none of these could prepare me for what the mains were to bring. I had the rack of lamb with pumpkin puree which was hands down the best I have tasted on the coast. The portion was relatively modest but the taste was amazing. My friend had the beef fillet which he also enjoyed immensely. Being French owned by Vincent and his wife Sophie the wine list was never going to be small but it even includes a Pingus that costs €1000 a bottle.
For desert we had the selection of different flavoured crème brulee’s and the chocolate molleux with vanilla ice cream. In case your French isn’t up to speed (like mine) molleux is an adjective and means soft, mellow, tender, moist and sweet which about sums up this desert. Overall, El Patio de los Perfumes was a fantastic dining experience that comes thoroughly recommended by the Marbellainfo.com team.

    very tasty

    fiona butler

I ate here recently with a group of friends and I have to say that we all thought it was very good. The prawn spring roll starter was delicious - they could have just served that up for the main course too. Desserts were divine too. The overall ambience is wonderful - lots of candles, soft lighting, vaguely ethnic touches, but it works.

    Great restaurant, shame about...

    Fred from London

What a great location and place. Food was great too. The only problem is this vile French waitress (Parisian) . I have seen quite a few rude waiting staff in my life but she is right up there with the worst of them. Rude, agressive, stupid... Not only she wasn't particularly welcoming but she was also downright rude and agressive. They would do well to get rid of her. Delightful place if you get the chance to be served by someone else.

    Not Impressive!

    Benjamin Holt from London

Sorry to add to this mix of reviews as I'm sure it doesn't help the user trying to decide whether to go here but I went to this restaurant with my family the other night on a recommend from a friend and we were sat down at a lovely table in their courtyard. We then ordered and everything was fine until someone pointed out it had been 40 minutes and we hadn't got our starters, this turned into an hour...complaints...and then an hour and half in the end we just left. The waiter tried to offer some excuses but it just wasn't good enough, the restaurant was half full...so i'm sure the norm is not like this but it was for us and meant we had to go and have a ham salad at home at midnight. Hence the review.

    Always a good choice

    Conor from Marbella

We have had several corporate parties at Patio de los perfumes and it has always been excellent. The restaurant is in a fun location in Old Town Marbella and the food at the restaurant has always impressed us. If you get a chance be sure to go in the winter when the patio has been converted into a fantastic Morroccon Tent, it really is something special.

    Terrible

    Jane Bloom

Went to Dinner at El Patio De Las Perfumes after reading these great reviews. I don't know who writes them, possibly the owners as the food was terrible. My husband and I chose the same starter. Tempura Prawns, they arrived and looked very nice. Started to eat but the batter was very heavy and greasy, took off most of the batter and tried to eat just the prawns but they were so tough and chewey. For main course, I ordered Tuna, My husband chose the rack of Lamb. Both asked to be cooked medium/rare. My Tuna steak arrived covered in seasame seeds which I tried to take off but underneath was a thick soya sauce which was very sticky and very sweet. I did try to eat a couple of mouthfalls but it was horrible. My husband was now getting fed up with me so insisted on trying mine. He also agreed that it was vile! I then tried to eat some of the rice but that also tasted very sweet, the last thing on my plate was mashed banana, decided to give that a miss. Meanwhile my husband had given up on his meal also saying it tasted very strange. We both left our entire meals but nobody asked us why and the waiter even bought us the dessert menu's! Very pretty garden setting but the food was the worst I have ever eaten and the bill was 150 euros! Yuk!! My husband came home and made a cheese sandwich!

    Amazing

    Stephen Pike

We were trying to find a place to hold a party for 100 guests and we stumbled across El Patio de los Perfumes in the old town. We loved it so much that we booked out the garden for the party. The staff were very friendly, the food was amazing and presented well. We will be back. Stephen

    Fantastic Food

    Emma Day

We were staying in a fab B&B round the corner - La Morada Mas Hermosa - and thought the place looked great and booked a table for later in our holiday. The food was so good were heading back to the same B&B next year just to eat there again!! I had something wonderfully moraccan, pudding of my dreams and the cheese board is the best I ever had.
