Guadalpin Marbella Overview

The Guadalpin Marbella was opened in 2003 and is located on the famous ‘golden mile’ lying just on the edge of Marbella, a ten minute walk into the centre of town. The hotel is modern and glamorous and has risen to become the most popular hotel on the site. I am jealous of anyone who is planning a holiday here.

Guadalpin Marbella Rooms

There are 129 guestrooms at the Guadalpin Marbella that are all fantastic and spacious. I use the word rooms when in fact they are more like apartments with their own kitchen, living area, en-suite Jacuzzi and private balcony. Decorated luxuriously, with large leather sofas and marble floors, top quality fittings and the beds are fit for a Queen. The hotel building is u-shaped so most of the rooms enjoy views of the Med and Gibraltar and are kissed by the sun most of the day.

Guadalpin Marbella Restaurants & Bars

There are three restaurants all providing a different element to complete the needs of the most demanding guest.

Taro Guadalpin - On more than one occasion the Spanish Royal Family have dined in the Taro Guadalpin, which serves a blend of Japanese cuisine served up by the acclaimed chef, Masao Kikuchi. Open for lunch and dinner guests can dine at the sushi bar or at one of the tables.

Aralia – Wooden floored restaurant that looks directly onto the outdoor swimming pool. Headed up by the Michelin starred chef Ramon Farexa, who was also voted the best chef in Spain in 2001 by the Gourmet Tour Guide. A buffet breakfast is served here every day, as well as an à la carte menu of Mediterranean food for lunch and dinner. During the summer months there is also a lunch and dinner buffet menu.

Mesana - Open for dinner only, this is a gourmet restaurant decorated with upholstered chairs and black marble surfaces with an à la carte menu of Spanish and Mediterranean food and an extensive wine list.

Tapas Bar - This small bar offers light snacks of typical Spanish tapas food during lunchtime and evening.

Buffet and Barbeque - During the summer months a buffet and barbeque is available beside the swimming pool on the patio.

Pool Bar - This bar is open during the summer months, allowing guests to enjoy cocktails beside or even in the swimming pool.

Guadalpin Marbella Facilities

There is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool that is 36 metres long and heated all year round with a pool-side bar. The Belleza Spa is a complete centre catering to the relaxation and physical well being of the clientele. The Waters Zone has a hydrotherapy dynamic pool which gives a complete aquatic massage, a counter current swimming zone, showers with various jets and heats, and a Japanese foot bath to stimulate the circulation. The Thermal Zone features saunas, caldarium, hammams and Turkish massages, cold water basins, and ice showers. The Treatments Zone includes various kinds of massage, physiotherapy, medical consultation, sun beds, Vichy showers, and hydrotherapy bathtubs. The Fitness area includes cardiovascular and weights machines, and a studio with yoga, tai chi, and legs, bums, and tums exercises.

There is a hair salon and other boutique shops and various activities running off the beach including peddle boats and jet-skis 500 metres walk away. The hotel also provides a kid´s club in the summer with a variety of games and activities laid on. For the businessman there is a business centre, meeting rooms and a car park.

    Good but....

    Shelly from Ireland

The hotel looks absolutely gorgeous and we had booked a suite with two bedrooms lounge and kitchen area but the one thing I was most looking forward to was the in-room jacuzzi. I was, needless to say, dissapointed when I saw the jacuzzzi as it looked very grimy, we called someone to get it cleaned but there was no scrubbing that clean, the dirt was permanent. The kids club didn't seem to be very operational at the time and some of the staff were cheery and pleasant others quite rude. The Guadalpin is in a good location for Marbella, just two seconds outside of it but on the road to Puerto Banus and has some amazing restaurants inside, not to mention the inclusive buffet breakfast which was fantastic. Oh and the little extras in the hotel cost a fortune but we didn't mind as the room rate we received was so low. I guess thats how the hotels make their real money nowadays. All in all it was a mixed bag, probably a five star 5 years ago but now i'm not so sure. Note to management the rooms, balcony and jacuzzis need a facelift.
